This course covers map datum, compass work, terrain analysis, limited visibility navigation, and what to do when everything goes wrong. This is a prerequisite course for most advanced NATEC courses.
This is a 6-to-8-hour course. The candidates will be expected to navigate uneven terrain and woods. Please come prepared, proper footwear, eye protection, bug spray, and clothing appropriate for the season. A lensatic or baseplate compass is suggested however, practice compasses will be provided.
